Maxxis Rekon is a very voluminous tyre that you can use for daily touring, forest rides and All Mountain shredding, but it can also handle rough terrain. The TR version with EXO sidewall protection is designed to be ridden tubeless with sealant, but can of course also be ridden with a tube. Maxxis recommends the Rekon primarily on the rear wheel, which is best combined with a Forekaster in the front, but tyres with more aggressive treads work as well.

Note from the manufacturer:
Maxxis strongly advises against the use of ammonia-based sealant. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after only a few months, depending on the amount used.

3C MaxxTerra
The right 3C compound for Enduro and Freeride tyres. Smooth running uphill as well as the best grip downhill characterise this compound, combined with a long service life.
At Maxxis, the 3C tread is moulded from three different rubber compounds in one piece and not subsequently assembled from two strips. In this way, the treads can be shaped exactly to the requirements of the respective tyre model, thus optimising the riding characteristics.

EXO+ Protection
For the EXO+ construction Maxxis combines two of its best puncture protection technologies, SilkShield and EXO Protection.
The SilkShield ply surrounds the whole tyre from bead to bead, the EXO ply is used on the sidewalls.
Compared to Maxxis normal EXO protection, the advantages are as follows:

• 27 % better puncture protection on the tread
• 51 % more stable sidewall
• 28 % more puncture protection

Tyres with EXO+ Protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and Enduro racing, and especially for the higher torque and weight of E-MTBs.

Wide Trail (WT)
This design optimises the tread layout and tyre shape on today’s modern wider rims. Traditional tyres are designed for narrower rims and become square on wider rims, resulting in a less than optimal performance. WT tyres are optimised for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension of 30 – 40 mm.

Tubeless Ready
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures is reduced. Maxxis TR tyres are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other ” Tubeless Ready” tyres, because the bead of Maxxis TR tyres is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tyre. As a result, tubeless mounting is successful for all rims with standard dimensions even during the first inflation and with little liquid.
